Part of the European PGA tour, the Dubai Desert Classic takes place at what was the first grass golf course in the Middle East, which was entitled The Desert Miracle in 1988. The tournament attracts prestigious international players to compete for the trophy and US$2.2 million in prize money.

Organisers of the Dubai Desert Classic have announced that the tickets for the 2010 edition of the European Tour event to be held at the Emirates Golf Club from February 4 to 7 are now available online.

The tournament, promoted and organised by ”golf in DUBAi,” will be preceded by a Challenge Match, featuring 12 high-profile players in the field, at the par-3 course of the Emirates Golf Club. The traditional Pro-Am will be played on Wednesday, February 3 before the main action gets under way on February 4.

Tickets may be booked online by visiting the tournament web site –- www.dubaidesertclassic.com or golfindubai.org –- to avoid the last-minute rush.

The tickets for the Challenge Match and the Pro-Am will cost Dh75 each day while the daily ticket for the main competition (from February 4 to 7) is priced at Dh175. The seven-day season ticket for the general public will cost Dh675.

Guests of Emirates Golf Club members, as has been the tradition, will be given tickets on special rates and so are the MasterCard holders. The rates for EGC members’ guests are: Dh40 each for the Challenge match and the Pro-Am; daily ticket Dh90 and the season ticket Dh340 while MasterCard users can buy tickets for Dh60 (Challenge Match and Pro-Am), Dh 160 (daily) and Dh600 (season).

Fans, aged 18 and under, will be allowed free entry to the course if they are accompanied by an adult who is holding a valid ticket on every day of the tournament.

“We will try and ensure that those who apply online get their tickets without any hitch or hindrance,” said Mohamed Buamaim, vice chairman and CEO of ‘golf in DUBAi.’

“We have started receiving a number of enquiries on a daily basis from travel agencies, tour companies and golf fans across the world. And if the early response is any indication, we can again expect a full house during the tournament,” he said.

“Since the inception of the tournament way back in 1989, it has attracted a top-class field every year. The fact that world number one Tiger Woods has competed in the event five times since making his first visit in 2001, truly underlines how Dubai has grown to become one of the world’s most exciting golfing destinations,” he added.
